Why Sustainability Matters in Children’s Oral Care
Walk down the children’s oral care aisle in any supermarket and you’ll see a huge amount of single-use plastic — colourful packaging, disposable toothbrushes, and products designed to be replaced again and again. Globally, billions of toothbrushes are thrown away every year, many ending up in landfill where they can take centuries to break down.
When we created Little Brushies and designed Brushi Bear™, we knew sustainability had to be part of the conversation. As dentists, safety and clinical effectiveness were non-negotiable. As parents, we also wanted to make thoughful choices about the kind of world our children will grow up in.
Rethinking “Disposable” Oral Care
Traditional children’s toothbrushes are typically made using mixed plastics and synthetic materials. Because brushes need replacing regularly to maintain hygiene and brushing performance, the number of discarded brushes adds up quickly over the early years of childhood.
At Little Brushies, we asked a simple question: could we create a product that reduces waste without compromising on safety, durability, or brushing quality?

Rather than replacing an entire toothbrush every few months, Brushi Bear™ is designed as a durable electric unit made to stay with your child through their early brushing journey. Only the compact brush head needs changing, helping reduce the amount of material discarded over time compared to repeatedly purchasing full manual brushes.
Thoughtfully Chosen Materials
We carefully selected materials based on performance, safety, and longevity. Our soft nylon bristles are gentle on developing teeth and gums while delivering the effective clean dentists recommend. Combined with durable, medical-grade silicone components, the brush is built to withstand everyday use and maintain brushing performance over time.
By focusing on durability and replaceable parts, we aim to reduce unnecessary waste while still meeting the high standards parents expect from children’s oral care products.
Packaging Without Excess Plastic
Packaging was another area where we wanted to do better. That's why Little Brushies uses receyclable paper and card packaging. No plastic blister packs, no unnecessary plastic windows, and no hard-to-open clamshells- just simple, responsible packaging designed with families and the planet in mind.
